Our Jen

This site is dedicated to memories of our Jenny - also fondly known as our Jen, Jensel and Jenper. It is intended to not only give us happy memories of an angel dearly missed, but also to keep her spirit alive in our hearts.

Jennifer passed away on the 19th June 2000, aged just 42 years, after a brave struggle against cancer (a melanona type which she thought she had successfully beaten 15 years ago). In common with her life long struggle for good health, she fought the disease to the very end, desperate to gain more time to be with the ones she loved - her sons Christopher and Daniel, stepchildren Rebecca and Dominic, sister Julie and niece Maria, brother Stuart his wife Julie and nieces Lauren and Amy, mum-in-law Betty, sister-in-law Melanie her husband Martin and children Christopher and Francesca, her first husband Alan and Claude his father, close friends Paula, John and family, Cheryl and Holly, Sue and Maggie and families, new friends Davie, Elinda and family, Jon and Hilary and family...and many more friends and family who I hope, with the above, will contribute to this site to keep the spirit of Jenny alive.

I have not included, so far, the person probably most dear to Jenny's heart, her mum Doreen and here is a dedication from Doreen to open up JENSPOT:

Jenny had lived in Bishop's Stortford all her life and was happy and content to remain in the familiar surroundings which she knew and loved so well.

She was a dedicated Nurse and dearly loved her job. She also had patience in abundance and was never happier in her life than when she was looking after people who were sick and needed her help.

When Jenny became a teenager she started having ill health and it followed her all the rest of her life. She fought with every inch of strength she had to stay healthy, and said to me, on more than one occasion that with all the tablets she was having to take she was sure that she would soon start to rattle. Nevertheless she managed to remain cheerful in spite of everything.

She was a wonderful mother and took an active part in helping her boys with all their school activities including the dreaded homework.

What else can I say about my daughter Jenny that you don't already know.

Firstly, the will power she possessed which enabled her to overcome all obstacles with perseverance and determination.

Her love for all kinds of music. There is one particular incident that I will always remember. It was her first appearance on stage, playing with a dance band. She played her saxophone after only 5 months tuition, and not wanting to be left out, also desperate not to let the rest of the band down; the notes she didn't know, she just busked along with; whereupon she got a standing ovation.

Jennie's love for all kinds of animals started from an early age when she was surrounded by pets, such as rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, cats and dogs, etc; to name but a few. At one time I was absolutely convinced she was going to start her own zoo.

In particular was her love of Horses. She had never been taught to ride, so painstakingly she taught herself and also helped and encouraged both her children who succeeded in progressing to competition standard and went on to win rosettes and cups of which they were rightfully proud.

She will be greatly missed by everyone she came into contact with. Her immediate family, and especially her husband Robin who was always there for her. Who with loving patience and understanding cared and nursed her through the most difficult times, for which I thank him with all my heart.

We will always miss her, and we will never forget her.

I'm so alone tonight,
My bed feels larger than when I was small,
Lost in memories,
Lost in all the sheets and old pillows,
So alone tonight.
Miss you more than I will let you know,
Miss the outline of your back,
Miss you breathing down my neck,
All our to love you.
Once again,
I'm all out to love you.

If you have a memory of Jenny (amusing, poignant or otherwise) that you would like to share or contribute, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me, Robin on 01279 864637. More memories the better !!
